Sectioned Editor

The Sectioned Editor builds a page from ready-made sections. You add them, edit them on the page, reorder them, and then publish to one of your sites.

What the Sectioned Editor is

The Sectioned Editor is a Beta tab in My Sites. It builds a page one section at a time: a header, a headline with your form, steps, questions, a footer, and so on. You change each section's text on the page itself.

Beta means the editor is still being improved. AI Websites is still the first tab and the default way to build a site.

Find it in My Sites

Open My Sites. Sectioned Editor is the last tab, after Pixels. Its tab shows the word Beta and a number, which is how many section pages you have.

Select the tab to see your pages as cards. Each card shows the page title, the words Section page, and its status. A new page says Draft. Publish it from the editor to get its address. If you have no pages yet, the tab says No pages yet. Create your first one with New page.

Start a new page

Select New page. A window called Start a new page opens. Pick one of these starting points:

  • Lead lander: headline + form. A header with a button, a headline with your form, a card grid, steps, questions, and a footer.
  • Business page. A hero, services, reviews, a call to action, a contact form, and a footer.
  • Copy one of my pages. Choose a page from the list, then select Copy. The copy is titled Copy of, followed by the old title.
  • Start with a blank page instead. This starts a page with no sections.

The new page opens in the editor right away. You can change everything afterward.

Edit the sections

The editor has two parts. The list of sections is on the left. The page is on the right.

To edit text, select it on the page and type. Empty spots show grey hints such as Click to add subheading or Click to add form subtitle. Select one to fill it in.

The list on the left is called Active Sections. Each section row has:

  • A checkbox. Clear it to hide the section from the page. Tick it again to show it.
  • Up and down arrows to move the section up or down the page.
  • A gear icon for the section's settings.
  • A trash icon to delete the section.

To add a section, select Add Section. A window with the available sections opens. Pick one, and it is added to the page.

Your changes save by themselves. The top bar shows Saving..., then Unsaved changes, then Saved. The undo and redo buttons are in the top bar too.

Theme and preview

Select Theme in the top bar to change how the whole page looks. The theme settings open in a window. Your changes show on the page as you edit.

To see the page as a visitor sees it, select Preview. The page opens in a new tab. Preview works for a draft too.

Versions and restore

Select Versions in the top bar to see the saved versions of this page. The list keeps the last 20 saved states.

To keep a version on purpose, select Save this version now. You can add a short note first. The note is optional.

To go back, select Restore on a version and confirm. The page then shows that version. What was on the page before is kept as a version too, so you can undo the restore.

Restoring keeps your work

A restore does not delete anything. The version you replace is saved first, so you can go back to it.

Publish the page

Select Publish in the top bar. A window called Launch checklist opens. It checks the page and shows Ready or Review for each item:

  • Page reviewed: ready when at least one section is visible.
  • Public URL ready: the address the page will have. If the page is not on a site yet, this item says it needs a site.
  • Contact path ready: ready when the page has a contact section.
  • SEO ready: ready when the page has a title.
  • Analytics ready: ready when the page has a tracking ID.
  • Domain ready: ready when the page has an address on a site.

If the page is not on a site yet, the window asks Which site should this page go on? Choose a site from the list. If you have no site, the window tells you to create a site in My Sites first, then publish the page to it.

Select Publish Now. When it works, the window says Published and shows the page address. Select Open Site to see the live page, or Keep Editing to go back to the editor.

Take a page down

A published page shows an Unpublish button in the top bar. Select it and confirm. The page goes back to draft, and visitors no longer see it. The content stays, so you can publish it again at any time.

Phones and small screens

You can see your section pages on a phone. The editor itself works on a computer or a tablet. On a phone it shows the message Open this page on a computer or tablet to edit it, with a button that goes back to My Sites.
